The Burning Crusade expansion will arrive in the game later this year 2021. The news was planned to be announced at this year’s BlizzCon event, but a press kit, which was just leaked, has revealed the expansion.
The original expansion for The Burning Crusade was released in 2007. And according to this, the new version will add two new races to the playable roster of WoW Classic: Alliance Draenei and Horde Blood Elves. In addition, we will be able to raise the level cap to 70 and send players to the broken world of Outland to fight the invading Burning Legion in areas such as Hellfire Peninsula, Zangar Marsh Marsh, and mystical Terokkar Forest. In its day, the expansion also introduced flight, allowing players to earn mounts that allowed them to fly through Outland.
As with WoW Classic, Blizzard intends to release content from the original game (from the expansion) in different phases, including the opening of the Black Temple, Zul’Aman and the Fountain of the Sun.
However, Blizzard also plans to preserve the original classic experience for those who want it. That way, players will be able to choose, when the expansion launches, if they want to bring their characters from Classic to The Burning Crusade expansion with the rest of the server, or if they want to move them to a new server that will remain perpetually in the original Classic.
As with the rest of Classic, The Burning Crusade will be available for free with existing subscriptions to World of Warcraft.
On the other hand, now that the relaunch of The Burning Crusade within WoW: Classic has been confirmed, it could well be that Wrath of the Lich King will also arrive in the future.
